Stanley King visioning exercise at Little Mountain, 2010.

MEETING #1 (Short version)
The Stanley King Experience.
In February of 2010, the community of Little Mountain gave three hours of their time to engage in a community visioning process led by Stanley King.  This feel-good drawing and colouring exercise did not include room for “artifacts” such as whether anyone in the room would be able to afford to live in the new development, or whether final heights or densities would match the hopes of the neighbourhood.

MEETING #18

February 26, 2011.  Architect James Cheng presents the floor plans for one, two, three and four bedroom social housing suites. This is one of the most significant meetings for the former tenants of Little Mountain, over a year since the consultations began.

Cheng is sincerely interested in the space concerns of the tenants. BC Housing has diminished the square footage of each suite it will replace, and the architect and his team are attempting to squeeze as much liveable space into each floor plan. He asks the small but vocal group of tenants who have attended to voice their concerns and preferences for the variety of options he and his team have designed. After a year of work on the project, the integrity and sincerity of the architect and his team are evident.

MEETING #19
CEO of BC Housing Shayne Ramsay meets with Former Residents of Little Mountain for the first time. Ramsay and the developer imply that delays on the reconstruction of Little Mountain on the Community Advisory Committee as the lengthy consultation process continues. Ingrid Steenhuisen defends the community consultation process.  The former tenants tell  Ramsay that their children and dependents are suffering and desperately need to return to their homes ASAP.
